Monday had a Thrush welded installed, Tuesday I did my lift. This beast is coming together!
I decided for now to stay at a 2"....
My lift came with the 2" lift shocks.
I knew if I went 3 1/3" and bent a shock I'd be a little pissed @ myself.
Tear down & install wasn't too bad.... Needed to heat the unibody to het front leaf bolts, all in all my first suspension work.... I took my time working solo, got 're done in 10 hours or so.
So 2 weeks later or so... I just measured from the ground to the black rubber body door ding strip. My rear is about 1.5" taller than the front.... But the pass side has about a 1/2" sag compared to the drivers side. Any ideas?? This was with a full tank of fuel too....
My lift was a used old man emu 2" lift. I know these are known to give more than a 2" in rear until total break in....
Guessing I need to look into the shackle angles... I torqued the rear leaf to shackle bolts down, is that right? Or should I back them off 1/4 turn for easier movement? The shackles are a moving part so this is why I ask.
I live in the Cinebar / Mossyrock / Salkum area, a few miles from the infamous "Scale Shack" logging road. Been playing around up there a handful of times...
And around the "Winston Creek" logging roads too...
Anyone else around here in my neck of the woods and know of any other local spots??
Just moved to Onalaska. Wondering how I might find this Scale Shack logging road. Got myself a Jeep and wanted to get her out there in some mud.
Think you could help a guy out with directions?
I picked up a super clean totally stock 1996 XJ 4 door yesterday.
Got my first Jeep wave in it on hwy 508 on my way home. Made me SMILE bigger than ****. LoL
This rig (at least for now) is going to be the wifey's grocery getter. =/
But won't stop me from doing what I've gotta do.
Luckily I am a pack rat and still have a collection of misc parts leftovers from my 2door XJ.
Wife has driven it maybe 2 miles and already wants to throw a lift on it!!!
I have spent the morning re-visiting my posts from years back, and can't wait to get this beast dialed in....
First project will be a new heater core. Not too excited about that. But thats why I got this beauty for so cheap.
206xxx miles, auto 4wd. New street tires, new shocks. Runs & drives like a dream.
Shift solenoids need replacing shifts like a manual/ automatic. Aftermarket header has a tiny keak when cold. Headliner sag. Otherwise (until wife & kids trash interior) its a beauty queen!!

Scale Shack ^^^^^
Hopefully you got someone to roll with, be prepared to find snow! Have fun, be safe I'll be headed up that way once I get some wrenching fone on mine first.
Miles & miles of mainline logging roads. I've covered 35 miles one way up there , ended up damn near to Elbe. Was glad I had a neighbor as tour guide....
