The drive shafts and brakes need to be hooked up and the brakes bled front and rear....but it is finally a roller. It is way bigger, taller, meaner looking than I ever dreamed it would be. For doing a piece meal lift of parts I came up with on my own, it sits remarkably level, too. If it wheels nearly as good as it looks, I am going to be very happy with it.
sweet now get that armor on the old girl!

Tonight was all about getting the front suspension and steering all torqued, adjusted and dialed in. I don't want any surprises when I take her out for a test drive like...DEATH WOBBLE!!!!

Oh yeah, I put my exhaust back on tonight, too. Got tired of it sounding like a dragster when I start it up to test things.

...and here are a few more. I really wish I had been posting my pics like this all along. You know what they say about Old Dogs and new tricks, though...LOL. That steering draglink and tierod was actually on Ole Red's stocker axle when I bought her. It looks really good all cleaned up and on my DIY Super D30!!

Well, I adjusted and torqued front steering and suspension, routed and mounted all brake lines. Found the leakage issue between my jeeps brake lines and those damn Ford rear discs and fixed that issue with the adapters you see in the picture. Then we bled the brakes. With the brakes all done I went into installing the the new simpler TC linkage. I love love love how it shifts now. While I was doing that Chris filled the diffs with 85W-140 because that is what my Aussie Lockers like. Then he filled the TC with Tranny fluid. After that he installed the rear shaft and I installed the front shaft and then we went for a ride. The Jeep rides good. The suspension feels so much more solid. I just need to adjust the tierod or the control arms but it gets really sketchy at anything over 35mph. I figure hey that's fine for Elbe since she will be riding on the trailer. I bet we don't get much over 30 up there even on the forest service roads. I will get it adjusted, though. I have lots of tire rubbage when turning so that will need addressed. Then all of my trail armor needs installed. I guess I will start on that tomorrow.

Here are a couple more pics including one at Jack in the Box. We stopped there to grab chow during the test drive. I didn't want to press my luck with Johnny Law on a Saturday night so I went back to the shop and put it nose in this time. I really like the stance I ended up with. This suspension feels great on the road. Can't wait to test it on the trail after some mad fender trimming....lol.

Today I adjusted the tierod and draglink. the toe is now closer to right and the steering wheel is closer to center. I drove it up on the bank to take the poser pics. I like how it flexes but I discovered my TC linkage isn't adjusted quite right. I have everything except 4LO. I'm sure a small adjustment will get me all gears. So I took the poser pics and then I backed it back into the shop. I know I mentioned mud flaps but who needs those for a trip to Elbe on a trailer. I got hot on clearing all of the eccess crap out of the wheel wells, removing fender flares, trimming fenders and getting the old bumper off all to make way for putting my winch bumper and winch on. Having friends over for dinner so I had to stop a little early.
