Well, here is the result of working all day Saturday. I picked the old Jeep clean. A couple of things I will highlight. If any of you guys think your Jeep weighs a little more than it should. Drop the gas tank skid plate and the gas tank down. Between the two of these I bep I scraped off and swept up 15-20 pounds of dirt. Quarter panel guards will help your Jeep keep its proper shape when hardcore 4wheeled. Removing mine was a PITA because the the body underneath was tweaked way out of shape and as I removed it bolt from the quarter guards the body was reverting back to tweaked. My U-bolts were complete junk 5 of the 8 nuts being removed resulted in snapped off tips. The driver's side leaf spring pack alignment pin was snapped. So, new spring pins will be installed and new grade 8 U-bolts and nuts will be bought. I'm leaving my pinion alignment wedges out this time as I'm installing the 2" lift shackles and shackle relocators that lift it another 1.5". I think they will put plenty of angle in the pinion to keep the vibes away. I believe those alignment wedges have caused now 2 sets of leaf spring pins to break.

I also have a class 3 receiver hitch to add tgo my list of items for sale. Even if you don't have a trailer to pull, this thing saved the rear end of my Jeep countless times while 4wheeling. I have always run a stock rear bumper with just the quarter guards and this tow hitch to keep the rear of my Jeep safe. First $40 bucks takes it home. The steering box is now pulled out of the jeep and just waiting to go home with somebody. The Laredo seats are now out and taking up room in my garage. I'm sure somebody needs them.

My garage is now full of all of the parts I pulled off of the old Jeep, that will be installed on Great White.

That is a factory original tire carrier that I found on an 89' XJ in a junkyard in California when I was down there going to school a few years back. That baby is not for sale...LOL. I've carried a 33" tire on it for 5 years now. I know it will handle a 35" spare just fine.

The local junkyard/towing sevice will be getting called first thing Monday morning to come get the stripped out shell of my old Jeep. It's time to get it out of the driveway so I can continue on with the next chapter of project Great White. Hopefully the master rebuild kit for my D44 will come in the mail Monday or Tuesday.

Hi, I have one of those tyre carriers. On mine the rubber grommet that slides over the pin on the tailgate is missing.
Have you had to replace yours ?
I went to the local Jeep/Chrysler stealership and they had NO clue, couldn't even find a part number.

Just wondering if you know where I can get one or even if you could have a look at yours and see if there is a part number ?
Thank you in advance

Mine doesn't have a rubber grommet over the pin that sticks out on the hatch plate. It does have a rubber grommet right next to the latch piece on the swing out carrier itself. I'm guessing that is to keep it from rattling when closed and locked. Here are the numbers that were stamped on it: 52005826 and right below that was RE13. I hope this helps you out.

I took the old Jeep down off the jackstands this morning as the wife was worried about it falling on her car. I was a bit concerned myself and besides this way, it's ready for a flat bed tow truck to come winch it onto the truck and take it away. Hopefully tomorrow.

hey buck if you are letting them take it away, i suggest taking the rear 3 windows out for spares as these items become casualties very often in our rigs, especially when you lift it higher, it becomes a little more wobbly!

also if the bottom piece of your dash (the part that screws in under the passenger side glovebox) is intact, i will take that off your hands, i kicked mine and it broke.

in fact you should let me come by and pick **** off of it that you were gonna throw away anyway!

Come on by and feel free to pick. You reminded me of something I forgot already. Under that piece of dash trim is the TCU and I want that for a spare. I also still need to take my towhooks off the front. I'm considering keeping the one good tail light but that is like telling myself its okay to bash in the ones that are there. This is a wheeling rig but I really would like to keep it from getting as bad as my old Jeep was. I believe a guy can have a fun wheeling rig without bashing it to look like a bag of hammered *******s....LOL.

Thank you for getting that part number, I've had no luck here in OZ getting one, so maybe I can order online now. Cheers
