I'm not going to paint you a BS picture. I did scrub ****ters, wash dishes and wash a lot of airplanes when I was a young sailor. However, I made myself the best ****ter, dish and airplane washer around. It was noticed and I advanced quickly. Within one year I was a 3rd class PO (E-4) and working on the electronics of the the most advanced Navy jet fighters they had. A 3rd class PO in the navy is equal to a Corporal in the Army. I figured even when I was scrubbing ****ters that I was getting a paycheck and I was traveling to all kinds of foreign countries. To me that is much better than flipping burgers at Mickey D's or worse sitting on the couch at home collecting a Welfare check. I was advanced to 2nd class PO (Equal to an Army Sergeant in less than 3 years. That was a pretty darn good paycheck for a 20 year old kid.

Idk how the navy promotes but from what I saw while I was in, the army promotes based on what they need. The larger the unit, the more promotions. The smaller the unit, the less promotions. I guess they don't want a small unit with a bunch of e-4s and e-5s that outnumber the privates. It is also far harder to advance in a job in a small unit.
The military isn't a terrible career path if you don't mind having your benefits, pay and life held in the hands of some politically correct General and politician that won't hesitate for a second to throw you under the bus to score political points.

Yeah I'm going to be a cop eventually. But my comunity college for a criminal justice degree is paid for by scholarships I received. I don't think I'm ready to go yet. I want to wait Untill I get my 2 year degree I think.. ill miss my jeep .. ill miss my 15 year old dog who's Probly gunna die when I'm gone.. and I'm only 18.. I want at least another summer one last one before I ship out. What do u guys think? Should I go before or wait 2 years to see if the benefits package gets returned and make my decision then?

Personally I'd wait. The military is becoming far too political right now and they're on the chopping block for a lot of things. Go to school and get your education first since it'll give you more time to plan out your future and make a better career choice too. Your education will always be with you.

I didn't know your Law Enforcement degree was already paid for. My son is almost finished with his Law Enforcement degree at our local community college as well. I'd finish school and have a look around for available jobs. Unless you really want to join the Army to be in the Army I wouldn't do it. A lot of people say the military is just a job but, it's a lot more BS than a regular job. The military is for some but, not all. See if you can get hired on from your college degree and just keep the Army in mind as a backup plan. AND if you already have your degree when you go talk to the recruiter, you better talk Officer programs. There is no way in hell I would join the military, with a college degree, and settle for being an enlisted man. Take that from a guy who did 24 years as an enlisted man and I still don't even have my associates completed.

So, last night I did some major dis-assembly of the old Jeep. The front coils have sold, the Budget Boost (front coil spacers and rear shackles) sold, the brake Master Cylinder and Booster sold. I'm getting Antsy to get the suspension and axles out from under it and prepped to go into Great White.

I'm pulling the D44 rear axle out of the old Jeep tonight. I need to get it out and cleaned up so I can get the rear gears rebuilt. Plus, I may have my ChryCo 8.25 out of the little white Jeep sold to a buddy of Wades. So, once I have to pull that, my white Jeep will be sitting on jackstands until I can get my D44 put under it.
