I think it is a stepping stone to a much needed full federal decriminalization of this substance. Marijuana has far superior medical benefits to alcohol and tobacco combined. The fact that it has been looked at as "taboo" for the last hundred years is just a bunch of political bull crap.

What our federal govt needs to wake up and realize is Marijuana could be one hell of a cash crop. Tax collection could be used to help ease the deficit. Just set limits on how much you can buy at a time and come up with a method of regulating it from a traffic/driving aspect. I realize smoking bowl isn't going to affect your driving but if you smoke out for hours it will. So they need a way to tax, regulate and deal with those who abuse it and drive.

the simple fact that this issue is being discussed maturely on a jeep forum (where id guess most people are some part redneck and conservative) is a HUGE SUCCESS in my eyes. I have seen similar discussions in places i never though itd happen. heck, even ESPN had some moron on talking about how its worse than tobacco.

The only thing i ask of EVERYONE before forming an opinion on weed is do your own research. There are government documents out there that state very plainly that weed is not bad and has many beneficial uses. however, those papers are hidden as best they can be. dont listen to me, dont listen to people on tv, most people have alterior motives, form your own opinion without the bias of a society where its been taboo for the greater part of the last 100 years.

Legalize it... I think if your a smoker or drinker... Here in Washington you get hit with a heavy tax. But if you smoke pot... no tax at all. My only concern with the whole issue is kids and keeping it out and away from schools. I also think weed should be treated JUST like booze. No smoking in public and If there was some way to test how impaired someone is... No driving while blazed out of your mind. But that's my feeling, I don't personally smoke. I don't care for the smell of it, Gives me a huge headache.

the leagalization of pot, it was a rush deal by users that never reasd the by laws that came with this law. the details on it are not even worth it, the nano grams you can leagly have in your system is enoph for a hit a week, and patients that have a card are nop longer fit to drive...it will be verry proffitable but what comes with it was not thot of when voted for, and i dont even smoke it

I see it as more of a Libertarian vs Statism issue. I haven't touched it in 30 yrs. Decriminalizing it still means it's against the law and you can be arrested. It's a half way measure and wrong.
Legalize it.

Legalize it.
Decriminalisation is essentially the removal of "constructive intent" for possession - doesn't mean there aren't still controls on its use.

"Legalisation" would put it in the same class was, say, water - no controls, no penalties, use it wherever and however you like.

Nope. My state says its cool to buy an ounce. Well not yet but within 30 days it will be legal.
$12 a gram.
And you can only buy from licensed "smoke" shops. And it will come in a bar coded bag with a date. So if your rocking a month old bag with weed still in it they will know your buying it on the streets. There is a lot of little underlining factors to them passing the new laws.
Edit:
It will not be allowed to be smoked in public.
You can also get a DUI. With the law passing there was a underline requirement that blood testing can be required if the officer thinks your baked.

Didn't think to remember that companies will still drug test did ya? So either enjoy the liberties of smoking pot or enjoy a job. And they can't stop some states from drug testing and not in others. That's a restriction on a market and an infringement on the interstate commerce clause. The gov can't make it universal either. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh bill of rights. Might be like the red states and blue states where you can't drink on Sundays. But doubt it. Colorado and Washington are test markets.

It's true.
Now mind you I don't smoke.
I'm happy my state made it legal. Still wont smoke it.
It's funny cause most people don't think about the aspects of getting drug tested at work.
If I did smoke I would be safe at my job since my bosses smoke lol
Buuuuuut I'm guessing 99% of jobs are not like mine.

Needless to say in countering this a few other states passed legislation making it so that in order to receive welfare benefits you must pass a drug test. that I can agree with.
