Default HD LCA Mounts

Ok guys I need some input, Bux91xj has the unground lca mounts and loves them (right pic), I found the rockcrawler mounts at qradratec (left pic). Both are 1/4" thick, bucks are high carbon steel and the rockcrawler ones are CRS. Whats the difference? Is one better than the other? Is one easier to weld than the other (for a rookie)? Im gonna go beat the poop outta my stock lca mounts and see if I can "fix" them and brace them for Elbe, but this is def gonna be my next mod.

Honestly I don't know if I'd run either of those. There are nicer mounts that protect the axle joint better. Not a real issue when running stock style joints imo, but if you ever change you LCAs and joint type you might want more protection.

I don't have them, yet, but I like the Clayton mount: http://claytonoffroad.com/product_in...products_id/90

The Undercover Fab LCA axle mounts don't have that extera piece of steel that has to welded on by the buyer because they have the skid plate built into the mount...and both the skid plate and the mounting surfaces are rolled over on the one side so they are only welded on one side. In effect the whole mount is made out of one solid piece of steel. If you look at them close after they are welded in place to the axle, the built in skid plate covers all of the forward LCA joint except for the bottom half inch. I will take a couple of close up pics of mine tonight so you can see what I'm talking about.

Here is a pic of mine. From the front, you can see you can't even see the LCA forward joint. It is completely covered by the built in skid plate. I will still take a couple more pics of them tonight that are more close up and clear.

Funny they all look basically the same to me...

On another note I beat on my stock incredibly thin, barely welded P.O.S stock mounts and got it relatively straight, gonna go cut some similar thickness steel and plate them for now.

When the dust settles from the debate that is sure to follow I'll know what the best lca mount on the market is. Lmao

You actually just hit the nail on the head, Wade. They are all built pretty much the same way. I mean much can you nuke a basic mount, right?...LOL. I'd go for the ones you find at the lowest price.

I'd just recommend you get a mount made from 1/4" steel. There are a couple of companys out there making them from 3/16" and they are charging the same money for them.

X 2 on that!!!! After mine bent, I beat them straight without doing any additional boxing or strengthening.....And, Well, you saw how my mount ripped completely off the frame. I don't want that to happen to you in the middle of a wheeling trip like what happened to me...LOL.

We did invent a new Redneck Trail Fix as a result of what happened to me. With just one LCA mount completely separated from the frame, you can definitely wrap your winch cable around that side of the axle tube and pull it tight to get you home safely....LOL.

Lol not if I can help it! I got the mount sorta straight and cut out some 3/16" plates to box it in til I can get the 1/4" mounts. 3/16" isnt my first choice but its still almost twice as thick as the stock mounts. Ive abused my Jeep for years and this is the first non-body damage I've done so it should survive one trip to Elbe. I wont be attempting the busy this time tho.
