Would it be possible to make some? Looks like 2 peaces of 1/4 steel plates, a hole drilled into them and welded to the shaft. I don't know much about this.

Ive abused my Jeep for years and this is the first non-body damage I've done so it should survive one trip to Elbe. I wont be attempting the busy this time tho.
Sure you won't be attempting the Busy Wild....Just like I was going to take it easy on that Last Walker Run with my old mounts that had bent and I straitened them...LOL. You straighten yours out and box them in with that 3/16" steel plate you have and they will be fine for whatever you point your Jeep at. I think I kinda went overkill on my fix. I could have just had the 1/4" mounts welded on my old axle and I believe it would have been fine for another 6 years of bad abuse. I just took the opportunity to get me a newer non-disco housing to build. With Chromo shafts and joints I'm pretty sure my axle would hold up to 36s just fine.

If anyone needs welding done, just let me know... I'm a certified welder. I don't mind helping out if you own a welder. (Mine is a crappy welder as I don't weld much)

Hey Dude!!! If you are coming to the Camp Elbe Hills Run, please bring your welder with you. I have a sneaking suspicion you just might make a lot of new friends if you are the guy there with a welder and the know how...LOL!!

When I get "real" mounts I'll probably have it done but I have neither time or money to have somebody else do it now. I figured the stock mounts already on there so what could go wrong. And yes I do know what can go wrong ;-)

I think the best mod I've seen on stock forward control arm mounts (and to be included in any aftermarket repairs and upgrades) would be to box them in somewhat. The back ones are pretty much boxed in with the unitbody.

Thanks for pointing that out, I was kinda worrying about them being the weak point now, but they are braced pretty well plus they push against the mounting point instead of away like the lower mounts do. Hopefully the reinforced lowers hold up...

HAHA!!! Good deal, Eric. I have a picture in my mind of the parking/camping area there at Elbe that first night after wheeling, especially if we hit up the Busy that first day, looking like the pics I've seen in Peterson's4wheel mag of the the Ultimate Adventure. Welding and fixes of all sorts going on all over the place...LOL. I'm sure between all of the guys that will be there that we will have the parts to build 2-3 extra Cherokees. I always pack D30 shafts, drive shafts and a complete extra steering. Plus, I always have extra fuses, relays and wiring for any little electrical gremlins that might hem me up. Plus I have extra tarps and extra flashlights. There will be no reason for anybody to be laying in the mud or working in the dark.
