Okay Guys False Alarm. I'm going to stick with the original plan of the weekend of 9-11 May. The only issues are that a couple of trails....I don't know which ones...will be closed for maintenance but just for a couple of hours on Saturday. We have the whole damn weekend to wheel. Allso, we can't reserve campsites but campsites will still be available. There will just apparently be a few working party memebers camping overnight...my guess would be they will only be there for Friday night. So, as I said the change was a false alarm. We are sticking with the original plan of Elbe Hills Campout and Wheeling Run on weekend of May 9-11, 2014.

Okay guys I'm pissed and this be my last post on this thread. Because our group is large as jn more than 10 people and posting the run on our forum is considered advertising to the state DNR. I would have to obtain a permit and insurance to have our campout and wheeling run at Elbe Hills. This came straight from the DNR officer who manages Elbe. So I am hereby cancelling my campout and wheeling run. I wont be there. Oh and even woth the permit and insurance I still couldnt reserve camp spots until the wlorking party people have theirs. Sorry but I cant afford the permit and insurance.

Lol, because buying the discover pass isnt enough money, the bastards pull this ****. So tired of the politics of everything. Jeep Unit is still going, id like to see this officer try to kick us out for the work party people. My discover pass says i have access to all dnr land and campgrounds.

Just throwing this out there, but many state park rangers are deputized by the state and have the full extent of the law on their side... Just saying, dealt with this before and its not pretty. There's no reason you can't wheel there or find a campground close by. But the sites there at the specific location are reservation only

Yes and NO. Once you make this an organized group event you have screwed yourselves and not just in wheeling but even group cruises on public roads as well. The best thing you could do is simply keep it unorganized and simply state your going camping/wheeling and anyone who wants to join can.

You might be surprised who reads these boards. And if they wanted to kick you out of the campground they wouldn't have an issue.

That is exactly what I did. Started a rhread that said Im going to camp and wheel at Elbe. The DNR ofdicer told me because our forum is a public forum it is considered advertisement and if more than 10-15 people show up for it at a state managed area it is clnsidered an event reqjiring the permit and insurance. They basically need a name on the permit of a guy with the insurance to cover any damages. I totally imderstand why they do it. Im just not going to be that guy for a group of people I know roughly 20% of well.

Hmm, well that puts a damper on my rant!! lol. I cant imagine that the whole campground will be taken, its pretty big. If it is then we will figure it out, but im still going either way.

Wtf? This is dumb. Doesn't the state nickel and dime us enough? Tho who's to say that we are all in a group? Shoot you cant go wheeling around here and not run into someone you know, wheeled with or met in town. The whole Offroad community is one but group. Never meet a more friendly group of people in any other sport.

Anyways. I'm guna try and make it. Still have some loose ends yo finish up. But should make it in time.
