Is it possible to fit a 96-98 zj fuel tank into a 1992 xj 3 extra gallons capacity would allow me to fill up twice a month for my work commute without having to buy gas in between paydays.

 

I have a96 xj and a 96 zj the tanks ar totaly different and the pumps are no where near close dont see it happening man.

 

not the answer you were looking for but you could fill a 5 gal can and leave it at home and top off when needed, just a thought, you could even get a small transfer pump so u didnt have to stand there holding 40 pounds of fuel

 

A lot of work and expense for three gallons.

 

I think you should look for something that is AMC designed If you looking for oem.the zj was chrysler designed, the xj was amc designed. Maybey try a grand wagoneer? North western metal products (NWMP) makes a 32 gallon replacment tank for the xj but its pricey.
