I've got a Dana 30 out of a 90 XJ with no brakes, and the brakes from a 96 ZJ. Will they work together? Will they fit up? Would bolt them together to find out, but they are not in the same place. Thanks all.

 

Just a quick check shows that both the steering knuckles and caliper/rotor/brake pad kits have the same part #'s for both vehicles. Hope that helps some.

IIRC a 90 is still a 2 piece knuckle.. last year for it I believe.. that'd contradict the RA parts listing.

A 96 ZJ is a one piece like 91+ XJ.. can anyone verify or is my memory wrong?

 

I can verify the 90 axle is a 1 piece knuckle. I swapped the brakes from the 90 axle to a 97 XJ axle. That's why the 90 axle has no brakes! Rob Peter to pay Paul, as they say.

 

And THAT is a good point to keep in mind - websites aren't always right. It's good starting point, but verify it with the dealer's parts department before ordering. And no, you don't have to buy from the dealer. It's fine to call and ask questions. It's also fine to not volunteer the fact that you plan to buy elsewhere - you are just calling to confirm part numbers.

If it bothers you to take up their time and not buy, call your local NAPA, confirm the info, and buy from them.

 

BUT the 90 IS a one piece knuckle, OverlandZJ is mistaken.

I hear ya on calling the dealership to verify part numbers. I typically avoid the dealership like the plague, but I am getting to a point with the jeep. I will have to hit them up on some items.

 

My understanding is that from inner C to inner C, they're all the same for the most part.
