Default Zacatal Rack

This may be new or old news but I just got my roof rack from Zacatal Rack in the mail and it was very disappointing. Let me just say one thing before I get into anything else, the one great thing about the rack is the price even after shipping. Its roughly $215 after shipping.

Heres the problems. It came 3 weeks after it was supposed to arrive! I had to put the thing completely together. The welding was something my brother probably could have came close to in high school. the light tabs seem bent. When I knew it came with clamps for the existing roof rack I was excited but then when I got it it was just two **** poor half circles that bolts threaded though. They were supposed to line up with the cross bars but didn't even do that the way they were intended to. Then finally it has a coat of bed liner on there (brand not sure) that was half assed spray on.

So pre-buying warning, I would think before buying this rack. It was cheap to purchase which is great but do not expect anything perfect by any means. Im and sure when I get my new rubicon express lift on it will take away from the imperfections of my cheap rack. I just wanted everyone to know.

Do you have any pictures of the rack and maybe some shots of the poor quality? I never heard of this rack before.

I don't have any right this second but I can get some soon. I just got it on last night and I have to work all night tonight but I will def. get some for you. Zacatal Rack was on ebay, then got their own webstore, then they get back onto ebaymotors, then got kicked off. I got worried because ebay sent me a msg saying that there could have been fraud involved but then paypal told me that ebay kicks people if they don't pay their ebay dues from sales. Zacatal also has a myspace I think.

I will try and get some pictures soon.

yeah i bought this rack a long while back off ebay. it is made from electrical conduit and is held together with the same fitting designed for electrical purposes. sucky. i quickly mig welded some front to back strength into it and it has held up just fine since then. holds a 32inch spare, highlift, shovel and all my lights and two mtn bikes just fine. i recently upgraded to yakima guttermounted crossmembers so it presumably gained in the strength dept that way as well. been on for the better part of three years.

still would not recommend this product to anyone.

the reason its for $85 is because of the quality. if you are looking for a cheap rack like the zacatal just know you pay for what you get.

It pays to spend a little time researching purchases before spending the money. A quick search on any of the XJ forums would have quickly warned you away from this rack. For around the same money you could have gotten the nice Surco rack from Summit Racing.

Friend of mine had a Surco on his ZJ. Nice rack.

I would also recommend the surco, not a bad price but a great quality rack.
