I have always had my engine temp at 210 and up, I replaced coolant and did this and that but one thing I never really thought about was how tight my drive belt was until I changed my power steering pump out.
After replacing I tightened my belt a little tighter that it was before now I am at about 180deg ?

Perhaps he has an extremely well "burped" system. He coulda hung it by the trailer hitch from a crane while loosening the temp sender. Gotta keep an open mind.....

not sure but it has been 210 and up since I bought it, But making the belt tighter or maybe the power steering pump had something to do with it.
It is pretty steady at 180. Who knows.

I agree that you need to VERIFY your actual coolant temperature by pointing an infrared point and shoot thermometer directly at the thermostat housing. That will tell the true story. There can be inaccuracy between the coolant temp sensor (in stat housing) and the gauge in the dash.
The infrared thermometer is a great tool and they are quite inexpensive now. I use a Raytek MT6 ($56 on Amazon) and love it dearly. I use it not only for automotive troubleshooting but for many other things like air conditioning, finding electrical hotspots in the house, etc. Or any shop can quickly scan it for you if you like; they all have this tool.
