Are you able to pull your keys out?
Mine does the same thing. Except that if you put it all the way back by pushing the button and turning it, it will lock and you will need the key. But off/on and start are all "keyless"
It worked great when I took my nieces to visit my mom in Texas. We drove to the airport in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from Pt. St. Lucie, which is a 1.5hr drive or so. I parked the car in long term parking... flew to Texas, spent a week there, then back to Ft. Lauderdale. Walking to the car I realized I had left my keys in Texas!!
Called pop a lock, they opened it for like $40. I put a flat head screwdriver in there, and started the car! Man was I happy I had that feature.
If i truly want to lock the ignition, i put it to ACC and it's locked there.

Mine does that too!!
I have to make sure I lock the steering column because you can pull the key out as well when its not properly in the OFF position and then start the car without any keys at all. The first time I found this out I thought to myself, boy its going to be real easy to steal this car

haha funny thread... my 99 has the factory installed ignition w/ available removable key option... jk... now if only my front door locks worked id be able to do the classy locked car while running thing that is oh so handy in our long *** vt winters... my driver door lock is seized up (i guess) the inner switch is frozen in place and last year while pulling the door panel off the passnger door i accidentally popped the little clip off so the lock works, but isnt connected to anything... ill get to it eventually...
