Just goes to show ya, u can't trust everything you read on forums. When my dad hears bologna he says " and where did you get that info??" Very effective. Long story short I didn't get any redundancy to the info I took as good. Learning things the hard way sucks lol.

So I was kinda able to find a iat. Somebody cut the connector off but left the sensor so I took what I could get on a Sunday. Couldn't find any identification on the wires about which was which so I just went for it, I had a 50 50 shot right lol. Got a connector, put it in and no change. Switched the wires on the sensor, threw it back in and still no change. Going to pick another one up tomorrow after work, the good JY will be open. Not a bad idea to have extra discontinued parts worse come to worse. I'm still going to test the one I got tho
What i can't find is any info on the install besides screwing it in and connecting the plug. Is there a reset I need to do like the IAC? I figured I would have some sort of change, even if I have a bad unit.

Oh and the connector I got was very similar if not the same. It's a two prong weatherpack Oreily's part # 85390 and 85391.

Tested the iat and it seems to be working properly. I didn't have a thermometer to accurately test temp but I had 8.6 ohms at 30 degrees. Took it inside and it and it bottomed out at about 4.39 ohms. Used my breath and got it down to about 2.2 before I started getting out of breath lol.
What sort of voltage should I be seeing when the sensor is plugged in key on? I haven't probed around just thought that would be the next thing to check after work.

I've come to the realization that I need to do some studying. I read a little crash coarse on auto electrical and it opened my eyes on what I need to know to get this done. Cruiser I really appreciate your help and I'll definitely post my results WHEN I figure it out. Lol not if but when.

Progress!! As I have been gathering info and getting more comfortable with my DVOM I'm getting somewhere. The month old cps is only testing at .3vac did it cold cuz that's when it has a hard time starting (still). I also have an electrical problem with my dome fuse keeps popping and battery drain if I leave the - terminal hooked up, found out the bunk way lol. Found another ecu at the salvage yard too, but of course I couldn't be that lucky.
i have a pretty good feeling whatever is the matter is some sort of voltage drop or unwanted resistance. Bout to get my probe on

Pulled the coil off to test the primary and secondary posts. The readings were all over the place. I made sure not to be moving the probes as I was doing this (if I moved them it would jump around even worse) but still it took between 15 seconds and a minute to finally stabilize. Once they stabilized the primary to primary was at .9 and the primary to secondary was 6.92M. from what I've gathered that's faith or failing so more progress I guess. Btw the coil I tested was about 4 months old. that's what I get for buying cheap eBay parts I guess.
Also found more reminents of the hack that did the electrical work on this thing. The cps connector had been redone with a wire looped around, attached on both sides of the butt connectors it was spliced with, along with the cps connector wires.
Gunna get get a new coil from napa and go from there.

Got a new coil and went to the junkyard and got another icm. I have nice blue spark off the coil. Between the two I have another evolution in the idle. It is lower now at cooler temps. It will get half way warmed up and be idling at 300ish rpm's but I have noticed that if I give it some throttle and let off, it will hold the idle for 3 seconds or so and then fall off the table.
I also noticed that when I pull a vacuum plug and let more air in the intake, it will idle better for a few seconds and then drop back down where it had been. Fuel seems rich too, btw.
Im going to take a closer look at the cts and iat. When I tested the units they tested good but maybe I got an open circuit or something fouling up my readings. Any thoughts cruiser?? Hope u didn't give up on me lol

Refresh me here.
You did remove the EGR and make sure it's seating properly and not causing a vacuum leak, right?

It has never idled properly. It used to idle high when warm but I changed the manifold gasket and it and from there it turned into a low idle problem. The egr was blocked from PO and the only thing I've done to it is change the vacuum plugs on it. I'll try reseating this afternoon. Maybe I just missed the spot when I was spraying carb cleaner trying to find vacuum leaks (wishful thinking). I was also thinking about just getting a block off plate for it too. I also have a battery draw along with the dome light fuse popping. Electrical is still pretty confusing for me. I haven't had that "ahh haa" moment yet, but I'm working on that. And the hard start when engine is cold is there still
