Default XJ Questions

What is the stock caster measurement? My caster is at 8.5 and 8.6 degrees.

Also, after lifting my xj 4.5", I can hear a loud clicking in the front during the first ~20 yards of driving during the first drive of the day. It gets worse when I turn. What could be causing this? Sounds like its coming from the U-joints.

I am also getting some death wobble. I relocated my stock track bar when installing my lift. Could the wrong caster cause this? If not, what could?

Thanks in advance,
Jeep450r

The loud clicking is most likely the front u-joints. I have the same problem and have gotten the same responses. Just get underneath and check it out.

Did you get a front end alignment after lifting? This always has to be done on an XJ. The track bar needs to be parallel and the same length as the drag link. I think you would do better to put it back in the stock position. If you didn't replace the track bar bushing, it would be a good idea to do so. Adjust the steering box, it is probably loose.

Yes I did, but he didn't adjust the caster correct. It is at 8.6 whereas stock is +5.3* to +8*. I just called Les Schwab and asked. Do you guys think that the caster could be causing death wobble?

No. If anything, the extra castor would fix it. You have something else wrong. Put that track bar back where it belongs.
