Hey all:

I'm looking to buy an all-virgin 2001 blue(ish) model with the 4.0/auto. I need some help deciding what to do with the following problems:

1) Code 00450-00452 large vacuum leak. Is this the Evap Cannister?

2) Red light from the air bag modules.

3) Right side hood latch sticks HARD!

Probably wrecked in the right front. theres a vacuum reservior behind the bumper that get smashed up pretty frequently. looks like a big black pill.

 

Could be the canister. Could be the fuel cap. Could be the fuel filler/vent hose. Could be vent/rollover valves on top of the fuel tank. Could be a line from the tank to the canister. Well, you get it. You need to check the entire system.

For the airbag, if you can access a scanner that reads SRS, it will help isolate the component.

For the hood latch, it could just need adjusting. However, if it appears bent (look at the surrounding structure too), then perhaps wrongholefool is right and it's been hit.

Get a carfax report. Have a mechanic look it over.

 

Hood release cables and latch mechanisms need a clean & re-lube when they start getting sticky.
