Default XJ Disc Brake Upgrade.

I have heard that you can put ZJ rear disc brakes on a XJ. Is this true? If so what years and what parts are needed? Will it work on all XJ's? Is there a write up on here already that explains how to do this upgrade?

Thanks

^^ lol

In short form, find a ZJ and take everything for the rear brakes.

Here is a quick link, http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical...rDiscsOnXJ.htm

Yes, it will still work. Just google 'zj rear disc swap' you will get a hundred write ups on the subject. Its easier then me tryin to explain it without pictures.

The swap to a D35 is a direct bolt on with no mods. To an 8.25 it is the same accept the center opening has to be enlarged slightly to accommodate the 8.25. If you do a search on this site and Google you will

I read this mod was just a little drilling and no welding involved though?

There is no drilling or welding unless you have a d44, then you need to fab a little spacer. Otherwise all you need to do is grind the center hole a tiny bit and it bolts right on.

ZJs also came with a 44. Might not have to do the welding but not sure I put them on a turdy five and it was a bolt on thing. Now if they just worked on my 60.

Do you happen to know what years ZJ came with a 44?
