Default XJ Blower Motor Resistor

I know this has been beat to death but I'm looking for the blower motor resistor for my 86 and heard a few horror stories on doing those. Mine only blows on high speed and figured the resistor is fried. Google image search turned up everything but what I was looking for.

Does anyone know where it is or a write up on it and what kind of he!! it is to replace?

Gracias.

It's located under the dash behind the glove box.

Look under glove box, maybe you'll see it w/o removing box.
Remove lower cover.
In 97 you just need to remove cover under box, very easy to replace resistor.

Thats cool I was just wondering why only my high setting worked...resister in the same spot for a 99? I haven't checked anything else yet..and surely noted im a novice in. most everything jeep/engine but I love my jeep so much this is where I learn )....now, off to find a little to moderate heat thread too **

If you get only high speed its the resistor . If you get nothing switch on dash would be suspect.

on my 98, it was behind the glove box up high, looks like a silver metal hood with holes drilled in in, maybe an inch and a half by two inches. held on by two phillips screws as I recall, and a simple electrical connector. When it goes bad the blower will work, but only on high speed. Cost about $27 at the local parts store. Since mobility was somewhat limited for me (i.e., I'm too fat), I unscrewed the half dozen screws on the glove box's piano hinge and removed it - simple and made a world of difference. Twenty minute job via this process. Reading posts here was extremely useful for me.
