have you checked the brakes out?
That's what I was thinking. Pinion or carrier bearings. Either way my mechanic wants like $500.00 for parts and diff rebuild. It is my only dd so it can't be down for too long.

$500? I would almost be cheaper to replace the rear end all together.

That's what my buddy keeps telling me. If I go the jy route, I have no idea what that rear has been through. I can't afford new. Maybe I buy jy Dana 35 and use diff parts. What do you guys think? I already have $200. In this rear. I know the p.o. and it was pretty babied. So its in good shape except for the grinding I think I created from playing in water with old bad seals.
My rear brakes are in good enough shape. Grinding not from the brakes.

Yeah might as well get a d35 from the JY, maybe a non c-clip one
or upgrade to a 8.25
don't know about Maryland but a rear axle goes for about $180 drum to drum around here

I would probably buy the same one so I have spare parts. I don't plan on wheeling real hard for a while. So I should't break anything.

just wondering if yall's had problems with stock rear leafs? mine are getting worse the more i drive it. yesterday going fishing, headed down the road and heard this god awful clank. came from the driver side in the rear. started to shimmy a bit but straightend out. i check it everytime after a long drive just to see. my frame is just about touching and when someone gets in it, it sinks lower.
just wonder what i should do. and also have a heavy leak from the middle of the jeep. bout the tranny is what i'm guessing. just need some options or opinions of what i should do.

As far as the leafs either order some leaf packs from rough country, rustys, heck just bout anywhere id imagine.. Or the budget way to do it is to make a basterd pack outta a jy and go that route.. Search it!

Default Possible Fuel filter problem

Hey, I'm new to all of this. Not raised a very tech type of guy, and I'm learning all of this as I go on. Anyways, my 91 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L just shut off on me while driving. Every time I turn the ignition it sounds like it wants to come on but its not getting any fuel is what im guessing. Im thinking about replacing the fuel filter...so my question is "Would this be a good place to start trouble shooting?"

If I re-gear my rear end, must I also re-gear the front? Sounds like a dumb question, but it's better to be safe than sorry..

Do the front and rear gears have to be the same for using 4-wheel drive?
