I have never heard of "black" corrosion on battery's. The lead get's the flaky white corrosion and copper will get the green, never heard of black

One cause could be that the post is getting REALLY hot under load, meaning that you either have arcing going on due to a poor connection between the post and the terminal, or the battery is getting overloaded.
However my thought is that the battery is leaking (ie no good). I'd replace is ASAP as the gases are explosive.

That's definitely not good.

Ok no body listen to me. I'm just an A.S.E. Master tech. I prob don't know...
it's a corrosion that happens inside the battery. A neg plate has come loose grounding on a pos plate. Get rid of that battery. There is a chance it will explode
My iPhone can post good......

I need to replace my leaf springs for now until I get a lift. I just had a few questions. First being how in the #@$% are you guys removing the bolts holding the shackles and leaf springs?!!! seems like a tight squeeze for an impact wrench.
also i saw a cherokee at the junkyard that had something under the leaf pack it was maybe12 inches long and kind of looked like a really small leaf would this be a helper spring or a degree shim or what?
sorry for the lack of knowledge im new to jeeps/4x4/and leaf springs lol
thanks in advance!
