Well I'm undercoating and installing new bump stops today. My front inserts really don't want to fit and they seem substantially larger than they should be. What am I doing wrong?

You have the wrong ones.

The make a larger diameter and smaller diameter.

You have the large and need the small...

LOL

You most likely bought bumpstops for 97+ xjs.. they are bigger.
Those will not fit unelss you wanna chisel em out

LowRange just sold me a set of big bumpstops he bought that wouldnt work cause they were for newer xjs.

In my defense the ebay ad was wrong. I ordered small ones and got big ones.

they're gonna be really tight to put in. Clean/sand the inside of the bumpstop bucket really good and lube up both pieces. Good suggestion from another guy a while back was with the spring out - lower the vehicle onto the stops to force it into the bucket.

He'd have to park a brick house on top of that bumpstop to get it in that hole. lol

Yup. Me too...

Ebay?

It's a good thing BimmerJeeper hasn't encountered this issue. It'd take 7 pages to explain why they don't fit.

No. They're out there much cheaper. That's just the ones I found first. I'd call Quadratec back and ask for the right thing.
