Question wont start without throttle

hey y'all

recently my 2000 stock cherokee sport would have issues starting. it would crank forever and wouldn't kick over. I thought it might be the crankshaft position sensor but I still had spark to the vehicle and it turns out the sensor itself was running okay. fuel pressure is also good.

had a buddy try and troubleshoot with me and the car would start under light throttle (has to be held for a while or else it would die if I let go before the car gets warm). once on, it would idle very low at ~300rpms but would drive fine. went for a 30 minute drive in stop and go traffic, highway it ran really nice. would this be an issue with the sensors in my throttle body? it's all cleaned out: IAC*, TPS, and a new MAP sensor in there but i'm worried something might have died on me. any suggestions?

*is the pindle suppose to move in and out manually? the sleeve moves, but the whole pindle does not. could that be an issue?

edit: forgot to say, no codes

thanks!

The stepper motor attached to the pintle is very fragile and easily damaged, replacement with an OEM IAC wouldn't be a bad idea.

worth a shot i guess? I'm going to return the CPS in the next couple of days so I can grab an IAC with that cash

No. The IAC is controlled by the PCM by a small stepper motor inside the IAC. Working the pintle manually will damage it.

good to hear thanks, thought i broke it. I'm going to replace it anyway and see if that's the issue, seems to be a common issue with people facing this problem

SOLVED: IAC was out. A new sensor got everything up and running
