My 89 will not start unless I give it a bit of starting fluid at air filter. Especially if it has sat for a few hours.
Once I get it started it runs fine. Changed fuel filter and crankshaft position sensor. Fuel pressure at injector rail about 32-34. Any ideas.

 

I'm just curious. The pump runs a couple of seconds when you turn the ign. on. Try doing that a few times (wait a few seconds between), and see if she's go without a prime.

 

Yes I have done that and each time the pump ran for a few seconds.

 

And it still wouldn't start without starting fluid?

Actually, he really should begin by doing posts 1,3,4, and 5 in my Tips below. Could be a fuel pump relay connection etc.

That's where I'd start but I'm somewhat prejudiced that way...........
