First thing to try is swapping the ASD (autoshutdown relay) located in the PDC (black box under the hood) with another relay. These relays are of the same part number, so swapping for troubleshooting purposes is safe. ASD circuit still in play here as well as the ignition switch itself.

Spark: 12 volts from ignition switch to the ASD relay; when the key is first turned on the PCM provides a ground to the ASD relay to energize it, then the ASD relay passes 12 volts to the coil primary side. If no crank sensor signal is generated after a couple of seconds the PCM cuts the ground to the ASD relay (and fuel pump relay too) and that cuts power to the coil (and fuel pump). Key to START and once again the PCM energizes the ASD relay. Now, a critical element is the crank sensor--no signal from the crank sensor and the PCM won't trigger the coil to provide spark.

Thanks Tjwalker, I have replaced all relays in the PDC last week. And the ASD circuit and the ignition switch are my next steps. Almost ready to sell it.

Don't cuss me out but try this-Take the distributer cap off and see if the damn rotor contact is still intact. My 96 rotor contact broke off WTF? I was thinking all this other crap was wrong when it was just a simple cap and rotor swap.

Ya I checked that first thanks though. Got some really good ideas last night from a friend. Now just have to wait for the weather to clear.
