Default Wiring issues

The previous owner of my 1995 Cherokee Sport did some wiring for extra lights and some other stuff. None of it worked properly so I disconnected all of it. Now everything electrical works EXCEPT my windshield wipers. I have no voltage at the wiper motor. I have checked everything and it all seems OK. I am fairly sure it is not the selector switch on the steering column since they worked perfectly before I started "fixing" things. However, there is an orange wire just dangling near the fuse panel under the dash driver's side. It is not connected to anything ( actually there is a LOT of wiring on this car not connected to anything) and it isn't obvious where it might go. Anyone have any ideas?

Whip out the multimeter, set to DC volts and check that orange wire while you toggle the wiper switch. If that wire isn't getting voltage when you toggle the switch then its not the culprit wire. cap or cover any unconnected wires it just takes one of them to find a ground while powered to weld itself to bare metal and create a battery draining short or even worse an electrical fire.

Thanks. It appears the orange wire (which has a line 20A fuse) has nothing to do with wiper circuit. It is not an add on so I still wonder where it is supposed to plug in. The only thing on the car that doesn't work is the wipers. There is no current through the circuit breaker at any switch position. I have examined several circuit diagrams but, frankly, these cars never seemed to wired like the diagrams. I'll keep investigating.

Note from DJ
Check Fuse 2 BLUE 15 AMP with key in ON position for power on both sides for 12 Volts; post back results.

Haynes doesnt cover the fuse box, but they do show a 7.5amp circuit breaker for the wipers. Along with two wiring diagrams. One with intermittent wipers, and one without.

I have the Haynes online manual for this car and it does not seem accurate. It shows a 20A breaker in the "junction block". If they mean the fuse block under the dash then it is a 5.8 A breaker. If they mean the fuse/relay compartment in the engine compartment then there is nothing for the wipers in it. Or if there is it isn't labeled as such. However, the diagram they show suggests that if the intermittent wiper control box is "out" then the wipers wont work. I have not found it yet but I'll keep looking. I will see if I can bypass that control and get the wipers to at least have low and high settings. Thanks for the advice! Every little bit helps!!

Go down to the 1995 XJ manual.
These are the factory service manuals, and are very comprehensive. They have all of the wiring diagrams.

Thanks to you folks for the advice. It turned out that in "fixing" the headlight wiring issue I must have jostled the intermittent module connection. It wasn't quite plugged in! Fixed and on the road again.
