Default Wiper motor getting weak??

Here's the issue. My wipers skip when I have them on. They do not glide smoothly over the surface of the windshield. it is annoying.

I know this can be a sign that the wiper blades are worn out but this happens no matter how old or new my blades are. I just put brand new blades on Sunday and Monday when it was raining my wipers were skipping across the windshield like crazy.

Now my thinking is, maybe my wiper motor is getting weak and having a hard time pushing the wipers across the windshield properly. I'm also wondering if this is due to RainX having been used on my windshield in the past. If that is the case, anyone know of a product that takes RainX off of glass really well?

Any thoughts? Anyone else ever have this problem??

Could be a few things. The plastic bushings in the linkage are likely worn causing the jumping. They're inexpensive but a little ornery to replace. It may also be the contacts in the motor need cleaning. To get to them it's easiest to remove the motor from the vehicle. You will then remove the cover on the motor where the wires enter & you'll find where the brass contacts rub on the gear wheel. Be careful when removing this cover as the little brass contacts are pretty fragile. Clean these areas with a bit of electrical or brake cleaner. Or just wipe with a rag. To finish off just use a pencil eraser to get the metal areas good and clean. Hope this helps.
