Default winter traction

So, after I got this thing running again, I took my first snowy road drive today. The a$$ end was all over the place. I've got 200lbs of weight in the back, no issues that I can think of as far as suspension goes. Drives fine in 2wd on dry roads. I'm wondering if I need to adjust the air pressure in the tires? Thoughts?

Heavy foot. Keep in mind how much torque it has. Check your tires

Use 4wd.

While in 2wd you are trying to push through the snow. 4wd will pull and push.

A: learn how to drive in snow
B: Lower tire pressure to ~30 psi
C: Dedicated Snow tires
D: 4wd, If you have it use it.

OK.... I see I should have been more specific. Last year with crappy tires, I could drive through anything. Now, in my 4wd Jeep, with meaty Firestones that I also have on my diesel 4wd which handles the snow without problem, the rear end was really loose. I have lived in "the snow belt" for almost 40 years. I have winter driving prowess. Now... any thoughts? LOL

Too much traction. The back end wants to become the front end. Use 4wd to get it moving then go back to 2wd once your up to speed.

I do this alot, usually our corners are nothing but ice. I shift into 4wd at the stop light, make the corner, and then shift back out

What kind of vehicles did you drive? XJ is what half the weight of a Diesel Cummins?

I didnt notice a difference when I switched from my 2wd 97 Ranger to my XJ as far as 2wd traction.

Keep in mind Mud tires suck on light snow and ice.

Do you have a limited slip or locker rear?
