Default Window making horrible noise

98 cherokee drivers window makes a bad grinding noise when it reaches all the way up or all the way down. Also, noise doesnt stop if automatic button is pressed. What could be the cause? What parts do i need to replace?

Sounds like your regulator is on its' way out. Replace it, they usually can't be repaired.

Or the gears are slipping and once it his the ends it start to grind. I had this happen to a Chrysler that I had a few years back.

I read about a repair kit that replaces the high failure rate plastic gear with a metal one.

My driver window has done it for 3 1/2 years.I just make sure not to use the auto button. If I do, I manually hold the switch to roll it up all the way.

Like BummerJeeper said, please just buy a new one. The new ones have been changed so that they no longer have that issue.

You can swap one of these out in less than 15 minutes. It's a pie job.
