Thank you so much, this worked great for my 2k Cherokee. Now my wife dose not have to tell me just how much her window needs to be down.

This didn't work on my 1990 cherokee. So I did the next best thing....thumped the out side of the door while hitting the up button, It worked. I think I'll break down the door a bit this weekend and grease the window tracks.
Thanks, I will try this tomorrow! If this cures the window issue, any thoughts on the door locks not working now??? All 3 other windows worked from the drivers control or the individual door switches, just the pass rear crapped out from both controls. I looked at the kick panel, looks like one screw on the sil and a nut off a stud in the back. Looks like I need a long socket as the stud really is out. Any idea of what size the nut is, I will have to go buy a set of long 1/4 " sockets. Thanks for the great info, a place to start for sure.

I hate to be that guy, but the paper clip is probably not a very good long term solution. A small wire jumper of a similar gauge as the wire would be a better fit. Paper clips are made from garbage metal and do not always make very good conductors. It's conceivable the paper clip will corrode due to the electrical charge and open air of the cabin. This could lead to an increase in resistance in the paper clip and an increase in the heat put off by the paper clip, possibly melting the connector or causing a fire. If you want to bypass the switch all together you can cut and solder or crimp the wires together.
That said, I am really interested to try it out as I've got the same problem on my XJ.

Thanks for digging this up... but for me, it only works temporarily, for maybe a couple days at most. Can you just splice those two wires together, rather than bridge them? That seems like it would be more permanent. Thanks.
EDIT: Just read the post above me... I feel smart.

I took my 93 apart to do this and realized that the connectors are different. One connector (for the window lock switch) has both the yellow and tan wires. Should I just bridge the two?
How does this apply to the older XJ's?

Thanks! We just bought a 99 Sport and have the same problem. I've been looking online for a solution that didn't involve spending $200. My son & husband can take care of that problem next weekend!
