Default why do i have oil in my air filter??

I've going crazy trying to get the cork's out of my xj before i install this 4.5 lift in my livingroom. I had a bad studder at cruizing speed so decided to do spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, and air filter. Anyway when i went to replace the air filter there was alot of oil on it. I did have a valve cover leak that i fixed 2 week's ago.... could that be where it came from?? If not any info would be great guy's
Thank's
Pete

it's blow by. google it. there's alot of info on this.

basically, it's caused by a clogged ccv vent line. but causes do vary.

Yah it's comes from the hard plastic hose that runs from the front of the valve cover to the left side of the air box if looking at it from the front of the of the jeep. You can take that line off all together, and cork the air box end. Then buy one of those mini cone filter's from the zone to put on the valve cover side. That will take care of it,I did the same thing after I put my cold air intake on.

Not everyone has to worry about smog. I think I'm going to do this mod to prevent any blow-by though.

There was actually a write-up on here, about how someone isntalled a oil catch filter apparatus in line from the valve cover to the air box, keeps oil out of the air box and keeps your system legal.
