Is this just a grille change or what is envolved? The 98 I wanted is gone found a 96 country already lifted and such but can you change the front end to look like a sport easily?

 

Do you have examples, I'm not sure what the differences are?? I'm thinking that you can, but pics of the diierent front ends would help.

 

if you look at the top of the screen the yellow is a sport and the light blue is a country/classic...

 

I think the country has those big ol steer horns for a hood ornament.

 

The only difference in a country and a sport of the same year model is the country has a chrome or black grill and the sport may be painted body color. Now if you are talking about the different look between the 96 and the 98, then you would need to change the fenders, hood, header panel, and grill. The XJ was redesigned in 97 to give it a more rounded and sporty look. The parts will interchange but you are looking at changing the whole front clip.

just header panel (with all lights grill ect.) and fenders

hoods are the same

its a super easy swap.
the only bump i ran into was i had to file down the back of my header panel i slight bit to clear the a/c lines.

also u cannot change the tail lights/ back hatch so if u buy the 96 and change the front u r always stuck with the ugly tails.
