I was wondering in what cherokee's were the Dana 44 rear ends put in? i've heard some people say that 44's were put in cherokee's with a tow package, and my mom has a '90 laredo 2x4 with a tow package and I was wondering if it might have one cause its kinda my donor jeep. if anyone could give me an idea what year and model that a dana 44 rear end was put in cherkees that would be awesome! thanks!

They were found in 87-89 xj's with tow package, and some of the fully loaded limited had them.
Also they can be found in MJ from 87-92. They came in the Metric ton package, as well as some other models. Be advised the MJ one is not a bolt in swap, the perches need to be moved, and shock mounts welded on.

im thinking most came in the 4x4 versions.... and it had to be the FACTORY package... alot of dealers stuck tow packages on... so just cause its got a hitch dont mean nothin....
thanks a lot for the info! you've told me exactly what i wanted to know. and i am pretty sure the tow package that my donor jeep has is from the factory because it has the button for comfort or towing on the dash.
