Where does this ground strap attach to the back of the motor?

If I'm not mistaken it attaches to one of the head bolts. But you can pretty much attach it anywhere it will get a good ground off the engine block. You should be good attaching it off the intake manifold.

Im surprised it runs like that...
That is the engine ground strap, it goes to the farthest rear drivers side head bolt.
While youre at it, you should get rid of the braid and run a 4ga copper cable, clean up the firewall side with sandpaper, and use dielectric grease.

Yes just went outside and looked at mine and it's hooked on the second head bolt in from the firewall.

Is the second head bolt the bolt coming up out of the valve cover? I don't think it reaches there. I will get some wire and upgrade, no sense using a sub-par part.

Anyone have a pic of where it attaches to the engine?

89Laredo:

In looking at your pic, I noticed your brake booster rubber tube doesn't plug into the manifold (or doesn't appear to) like my 96,...mine goes from the booster to the second "port" from the left (again, on your pic) Is that just a different year design or could mine be wrong?

Not my jeep...
Looks like it goes in right under the TB, maybe a better source for vacuum?
Pretty sure it was done around 99 or something.
