Default wheel well questions

The front plastic that guards water/mud from.getting into the door jams of my xj have been torn off, also the plastic that hides my vacuum ball has gotten ripped off from flexing...any ideas as to what I.can use to cover these areas?

Most guys that trim their fenders just leave them off, i did. But i can understand a want for them though as the door hinges are exposed then. Other than originals at the junkyard i don't know of anything. You would probably have to homebrew it.

I've heard of that pool noodle trick before. How's it working out?

I got noodles stuffed in my fenders and it keeps the mud and water out, it's not water proof but it works.

the diamond plate looks good but i know that stuff isnt cheap. I know replacing it with the factory plastic would be my best bet but i bet that stuff is basically impossible to get out without breaking it, also how hard is it to relocate the vacuum ball?

There are some threads on here that tell you about how to relocate that ball to under the coolant reservoir.

just unplug the vacuum line
move the ball to somewhere outta the way where the line can reach
anchor it down with some self tapers
then plug in vacuum line.

My vacuum ball was super easy to move. I stuffed it up by the firewall near the coolant bottle.

And lots of folks use the pool noodle. I like that diamond plate, though. I may try something like that, but I don't have flairs anymore.

Why not cut up an old rubber bedmat? If you cant find one of those go buy a cheap set of smooth black floor mats and cut to fit. Anything that is flat and flexible will work.
