Check for a cracked exhaust manifold. Mine is cracked and I can smell gas/exhaust when it runs.
As far as O2 sensors, go NTK sensors. rockauto.com has them for pretty cheap

From what I have heard about Bosch (and I don't have personal experience with them), is that they will not perform up to par with what NTK can do. So you won't see as good of gas mileage, granted it will not be a big difference. Also, Bosch will fail more quickly than others will. Once again, this is not speaking from experience, rather only what I have read

Bosch are the BEST O2 sensors made, They carry a strict warranty policy, but rarely do they fail.
Bosch is OEM.
In some cases a bad O2 sensor will not throw a code, until the counter is reached inside the computer.
Best way to dignose a O2 sensor if there is a CEL. Reset the code, if the same code comes back after 3 cycles (driving 10 miles or so 3 times) it is that code/sensor, and not a fluke.
To test a failing O2. Test the OHMs cold (room temp) against a stock spec is it is more than a certain amount (all vehicles are different) than the O2 is going out and should be replaced.
