It's where the receiver for the old remote keyless entry systems was. They look funny too, they have this little somky colored "bulb" on them that looks like a miniature department store security camera. People used to joke about that in the 93 I had. That's what was right there on it.
I always wondered what the hell that little black bulb was. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out. So if it has that bulb its already set up for remote keyless entry?

you have no idea how much this killed the mystery of the little black bulb in my '95 for me. even my friends would ask what it was for, and i just tell them it was my hyperspace button.

My '91 limited, came with a overhead console. But the temp/compass module, wasn't working. I called a Mopar parts dealer, $695.00 for a replacement. I just about s**t. So it take over a year of watching e-bay for one. Ended up buying a really beat-up one w/ working module, for $80. Pulled it out, and threw it into my recently recovered console. Looks like factory original. Won't find any in JY's, because everyone knows there very hard to come by. There where other Chrysler/dodge cars, vans, etc., that used them (for your year). IE. Fifth ave. Dynasty, Town & Country vans.

yes, just search for Cherokee keyless entry FOB on Google, you can get them and program them. The 93 I had came without the FOB but I put an alarm in it that did the keyless entry so I never bought a FOB myself but did look into it

That probably came out of model, with a sun roof, or a Fifth ave. Dynasty, Town & Country vans. with a sunroof. Look through e-bay, Chrysler/dodge over head console. See what matches.
