Changing the gear ratio in the axles to make up for larger tires. It cost about 800 bucks per axle for parts and labor.

^^Yup. Re-gearing gives the engine, tranny, and t-case an easier time getting larger tires moving. "Lower" gearing has a higher numerical value. An example of this is 3.55 gearing vs 4.10 gearing. 3.55 gearing (what most XJ's came with) is good for 28"-30" tires. If you want to run 31"-33" tires, you should look into re-gearing to 4.10's so there is less stress on your drive train.

You should check out this awesome site called Google. It's an amazing internet search engine that allows you to find nearly anything your heart desires.

Sorry, I had to. You opened that door pretty wide. Anyway, to anser your question, Rough Country sells gear sets for a pretty good price. You can talk with Grimmus on here about ordering them (he's our RC vendor). There are multiple other sites as well. rusty's, thepartsbin.com, quadratec, 4wheelparts, precisiongear....they all sell them. Pretty easy to find. You just need to know what axles and current gearing you have.

95 is a high pinion dana30 up front. Rear is a 27 spline 8.25 if you don't have ABS, or a dana35 if you do have abs.

depends if u got ABS or not, and since u got a 1992, if has a Factory Tow package installed. ABS=D35, no ABS=C8.25, tow package=D44

Correction: some XJ's w/ the tow package had the D44, but not all. Don't just assume.

Easiest way to tell which rear axle you have is to look a the rear diff cover. The D35 and the C8.25 are similar, but the give away is the 8.25 is flat on the bottom while the D35 is curved.
