Whats this plug for, next to air cleaner, 89 Cherokee
1989 Cherokee, 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4, no a/c, no fogs, no power windows, no power locks.
There's a flat 5 or 6 pin connector right next to the air cleaner. It has nothing plugged into it except a dust cap.
It's factory.
I will go get a picture of it in a bit but does anyone know off the top of their head what that plug is for?
I'm hoping it's either for the fog lights or the a/c fan "which I am adding for extra on demand cooling"
Thanks in advance and again, I will go get a picture of it this evening. The jeep's not here otherwise I would post the pic along with the question!
Thanks!

I'll bite-even without pictures and with the limited amount of information give.
Maybe for Fog lights that you don't have?

looks like it should be the lighting harness that lets you unbolt the header panel without having to undo the headlights and fogs individually
My 91 harness is different so I cant say for sure, but its about the right number and in the right place

That is probably the Chrysler DRB connector for the old scan tool they used to use. I remember seeing them before and am pretty sure that is what it is for.
Just noticed ehall's reply. I don't think I paid enough attention to the picture but that is a possibility also. I do know that the diagnostic connector would be something that would have a few wires and have a cover on it.

4 wires, capped on the end. Mystery in my eyes!
I suppose I could crack out a schematic and figure it out but I bet one of you guys know exactly what this isn't being used for.
I will most likely end up taking advantage of it and re-purposing it for something.....once it's determined what it's intended use is.
Thanks guys!

Definitely not the headlight / parking light connector. I have had the pleasure of dinking with that when replacing my header panel due to my dumminess.
It's not the diagnostic connectors unless there's a 4 pin one that I am not aware of.
Cruiser ruled out fog light harness.......

Dunno about that. Dunno about RENIX either so I should stop posting I guess. Its where the DRB would go but my 91 is chrysler and my DRB connector is L-shaped. And that's a weatherpack that looks like a sub-harness connection
