What years of transfer cases are compatible with my 1992?
Hi,
I have a 1992 cherokee sport 6cyl, 4wd. It needs a new transfer case and drive line. I'm told I need a npg231 t-case. My question - since I'm shopping used, how do I know what other years of cherokee transfer cases are compatible?
Any help appreciated.

Engine: 4.0L HO I-6, 703 Injectors, Brown Dog Super Engine Mounts
its "NP231". You can pull it from any Jeep Cherokee 1987-2001, as well as some Grand Cherokees and TJs. I assume you have an automatic so just make sure you pull it from a jeep that also has an automatic transmission and you should be good. They're pretty easy to find.
Just look for the shifter that is like yours. If the shifter has "4x4 Part-Time" and "4x4 Full Time" choices, it's not the transfer case you want (find another)
