If it were me, I would provide him with the reciepts, tell him how much time it took, and ask him what he thinks is fair.
If he low ***** you, you've learned a lesson, accept the offer and move on.
If he suggests more than you think is fair you have a decision to make, accecpt the $ or, negotiaite down to the $200 you think is fair and you both walk away happy.

Just keep track of time and ask them what is fair. If its low then consider it an IOU when you need something. If it's high then lower it to what you want and you still get an IOU.

 

I never charge anyone but I have friends that charge their hourly rate( what they get paid at their job).I just charge favors.If I do for you and you refuse when I need help then don't call me again.

 

The guy has no problem with $200, so we're all good. Just got the windshield replaced too. $110 installed.

Ok, first off, who ever was going to junk that jewel needs to be kicked in the softies!! That is a nice little XJ. $200.00 is very fair on both sides for "buddy/neighbor" work. He will be glad to save a few, and you can be glad to make a few. You got to know your heighbor, which is the best part!! Now, you know when you ask him to watch your house, he will, and you would do the same for him!!

PS, if labor rates in NY are $50/hr, I need to move!! They are at least $75/hr here!!
