I've paid for all parts, yes. He's been out of town for a week and a half but we have talked on the phone 3 times and I've emailed back and forth with him including the detailed pics I posted at the beginning of this thread. I'm still thinking $200. Sound fair? Input? I'm a helluva good judge of character, and this guy seems straight.
I thought I was a good judge too. A guy I went to high school with and his father and my father were like best buds took me for $2500 on a job he begged me to do. I didn't want to do it in the first place. He works at the Legion I belong to now and has the nerve to ask how I'm doing whenever I see him.
Thats why I have my rule #1. Don't work for friends, family or casual acquaintances. All my work now is from referrals from current and past customers.
But as always your milage may vary. I hope it works out fantastic for you and your new neighbour and you get along like a house on fire. Good Luck!

$2500..........that's knee breaking money to me! Hell this chick I know owes me $340 and after a few months of not seeing or hearing from her I got fed up. So I ambushed her at work with a debt acknowledgment letter and video camera. She signed it and I have her on video doing so so I'm pretty sure I'll get my money one way or another.
If you don't pay a mechanic or a renovator they can put a "Lein" on the property that was worked on.
Problem with numnuts was he was the general contractor and I was the sub.
I lein the house and the unsuspecting home owner would be responsible.
I know she already paid him so I thought it unfair to her.
It's OK I'm not on the street. Everyone knows about him now. Thats why he can only get part time work as a bartender. What comes around goes around.
