Default What is this wire?

What is this bare wire that is running in the same part of the wiring harness with the knock sensor? Is it supposed to be a ground?

Its just hanging there, not hooked to anything. There are 2 wires going to the knock sensor, 3 to the oxygen sensor, and 2 to the temp sensor which are the ones that are extended in the pic where I relocated the temp sensor for the 97' engine. This one is bare and runs along with the 2 wires for the knock sensor.

No this is a 88' with a 97' engine. That is the original wiring harness. I noticed the wire when I pulled the motor.

If its in the harness but not hooked up on either end then just pull it out! That is if the truck runs fine!?!?

I don't know where the other end is and it runs ok except for starting. Kinda sputters for 2 or 3 seconds then smooths out.

No this wire is bare, has no insulation. Is it a ground? Does anybody else has a wire like this running together with the knock sensor wires?
