My 4.0 runs just at 210. Factory cooling system but I think the PO replaced the water pump. I plan on going to E fans some in the future.

All OEM coolant system (Mopar 195 thermostat) except for the ZJ clutch fan upgrade. I haven't found any situation yet where it goes above the 210 mark even with the AC on. Normally runs at 195.

Most aftermarket gauges (analog or digital) will "tell it like it is or "what's actually happening". Most factory gauges are purposely rigged to display +/- the middle of the gauge as long as factory "normal" parameters are being met. This keeps the owner/driver from bugging the shop foreman with "the needle is pointing way different today than it did yesterday".
There's no way any water cooled motor will run the same temp in freezing cold weather/heater roaring, as it will in triple digit weather/air conditioning roaring. For the most part though, a factory gauge will point to +/- the middle throughout the 4 seasons as long as normal factory parameters are met. Aftermarket gauges aren't rigged for any parameters, other than their min/max range.
I'm not saying factory gauges r worthless, but after plugging in a aftermarket digital gauge/scanner into the ALDL port under the dash of various vehicles (including the XJ) and observing digital readings under all kinds of driving conditions (hot/cold ambient, heater/a/c roaring, towing, etc.), one will wonder about the factory dash gauge readings.

Mine runs at 200-205 under normal city/highway driving conditions. Driving up a mountain (as am often doing in Utah) will make it climb up to 210-215.
I have the AW4, so that is adding some heat to the radiator.
I have a 2-row CSF rad, Mopar t-stat, Mopar Temp sender, Hayden fan clutch, original e-fan (it works), mopar rad hoses, and original mostly working heater core. Anything that isn't stock I have replaced in the last 6 months or less.

195* year round.
I have a 195* thermostat in it currently, I run a 180* in the summer.
1997 4.0, mediocre heat, 312k miles, stock cooling system(stock replacement parts that is)

I runs a little below 210 (208 ish) all the time no matter what. Unless I have a cooling system issue (last time it was the water pump, it went bad)
Edit: 98, 4.0, eh heat, 220k, stock cooling system
