Yes. Either your thermostat is bad or missing. LOL.
You need to replace yours. 195* Mopar stat is best.

Ok so lemme clarify it's my brother's jeep and it runs at 150. He thinks it's fine and that the previous owner put a 150* thermostat in it. I think he's dumb and it's just stuck in the open position. My question is it harmful to the car to be running that cold or should we just leave it?

It's bad to use that low of a thermostat.
Fuel consumption will be higher and sludge buildup increases.

Default 1998 Cherokee Classic. 390,000 miles

180 winter at 50 mph. 195 winter in traffic or at idle. 195 summer at 50 mph. 205 summer in traffic or at idle. 210-215 stuck in traffic in the summer and sometimes 229 when aux fan kicks in and sucks it back down to 210.I notice mine runs hotter when the sun is striking the hood. I believe these had insulation on the inside of the hood from the factory. I'm thinking of an insulating pad on the inside of the hood; reflective on the top and black on the bottom.

The under-hood blankets are strictly for sound dampening. They don't insulate in the way you think they do. They aren't made to regulate temperature.

Just followed Cruiser in. Thanks Vroom Vroom. I'll just put sun screen on the hood in the summer, or maybe a big lampshade or a beach umbrella.
TT follows me around.

Better yet, just remove the hood and drive around.

Seriously though, I'd recommend either hood vents or hood spacers. They do make a pretty good difference in temperature.
