Default At what point should I change valve cover gasket

I was about to start an oil change. The valve cover is seeping and there is a decent amount of residual oil on parts below the valve cover. However, it seems to have been seeping for quite some time and this is a collection of oil over time. I am not loosing oil in between changes.

While I'm draining the oil anyway, doesn't make any sense to do this if I'm not loosing oil? Also, this would be the first valve cover I have done on this vehicle. Am I able to do it without removing any coolant or heater core hoses?

it is easy. the hardest part is getting your PCV hoses and grommets on and off without messing them up.

most people don't change it because they're losing oil. they just do it because oil leaks are annoying and make your engine bay dirty and gross.

Yeah that's pretty much the case. Just deciding if I want to do it today or not. Thanks for the reply.

In-lbs. My old book says 28 in-lbs for RTV and 55 in-lbs for gasket but I don't know if these are current.

Ft lbs will snap those bolts, they aren't tough at all. I have a felpro permadry gasket torqued at 55 in lbs, been holding up great with my new Clearwater head.
