Default What Is This Plug?

Getting ready to do my lift on Monday, so I was spraying everything down with PB Blaster. While I was doing the front shock top bolts, I noticed this plug right next to the fuse block. It wasn't plugged into anything, and I couldn't find the mating plug. Anyone have any idea what it is?

On a 98 the diagnostic plug is under the dash. Its an OBD-II vehicle.

yeah the OBD II port is inside the Jeep under the dash. There are other troubleshooting ports on these Jeeps. Could be for emissions, transmission, or something else. If it makes the OP feel better I have the exact same plug not connected to anything.

All my jeeps have had it. I vote some type of diagnostic port as well.

The OBDII data link connector is used for ALL system diagnostics. Engine/emissions, transmission, ABS, and body computer diagnostics are linked to one connector. The plug pictured is most likely used for an option or standard equipment for vehicles sold in other countries.
