Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1998 XJ sport, 2WD non running for $500. The motor was overheated and subsequently destroyed. Otherwise it's in very decent shape. While pulling the engine I accidentally snapped this rather brittle hose in the engine compartment at the firewall. It appears to be a vent, but I can't tell where it goes. Can anyone identify the hose in the picture circled in green? Thanks.

The rigid line is likely for the evap system. There should be an evap purge solenoid there?

Yes, this must be for the evap system. This is a picture of it in my engine bay. The picture I first posted I got off the internet. I crawled under the car and traced it all the way back to the canister near the gas tank. I just need to replace the hardline section under the hood.

 

Talking about the hose with the white top hat breather? What I call it.
If so that is the front diff breather.

It's a rigid line with a "y" in there...Evap.. Just fasten it to the board it'll be ok...lol....Seriously though, you're missing some parts as you've guessed...

 

This is a 2WD model. No front diff.
