Default What is this hose?

I changed mt NSS and I guess I knocked this loose as it was hanging there when I was done. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what is ?

Is it something to do with the brakes, it looks like its coming from the back end of the Jeep ...

Vent tube should be routed high on frame to keep water out of diff or transfer case.

Depending on what kind of wheeling you do.

You need to make sure your breather tubes are all above the highest level of mud and water you will ever cross or get into.

It probably got knocked loose during a prior rework. The fastener appears to be intact and I think there's a hole for it either in the firewall or in a dipstick tube bracket. Route the tube up alongside the trans bell-housing on the passenger side. If it will not fasten into an existing hole or if you cannot locate one as-described then ty-wrap it to the oil or trans dipstick.

Ok thanks guys, It was zipped tied to the NSS, so when I vut that it was just hanging, I am actually going wheeling this weeknd, and actually do some fairly deep water stuff as the trail are flooded right now. Should I extend this to be up in the engine bay?

Yup. At-least as high as the air box inlet or distributor cap (which are typically at about the same height). It's a breather vent, think of it as a mini-snorkel for your transfer case.

I guess I better put all of mine on a 10-ft. pole.
