what does a stuck lifter sound like
changed my oil a week ago used Quaker State 10w 40 and a wix filter, now I'm hearing tapping up in the front of the engine under the valve cover, only a light tapping at idle, and of gets worse as I gas it, help would be much appreciated I'm going to pull the valve cover tomorrow.

Make, model, year, mileage?
Before you take anything apart, drain off 1 qt of oil and replace it with 1 quart of Marvelous Mystery Oil. It does a great job of cleaning gum/varnish off internal parts and can also free stuck lifters.
Worth the cost, especially if it prevents needless diassmbly.

They might have got some junk in when they replaced the head. It sounds like someone is tapping the inside of the valve cover with a screwdriver. Some are louder than others. I had to replace my wifes lifters after I did the head on her car because I was careless. Easy to replace if you have to but try the mystery oil first.

If using MMO don't run it more than 500-1000 miles. I'd tend more towards 500 miles personally.
You already know to use WIX filters so that's great, I'd use Rotella T 10-30 or 15-45 (if in a warm climate) which has zinc which will also quiet down lifter noise.
I run 15-45 in the summer in TN and switch to 10-30 in winter time but where you are you could run 15-45 all year round with zero issues.
