Ditto what COSXJFAN said. My son's 87 XJ was a Sheriff's vehicle. The wiring was like chop suey and the inside rear door latches were disconnected. The good news was that it had the off-road or trailoring package. I'm not sure which but, it had a D44 rear axle and the full OEM skid plate package. It also had these really cool spot lights that didn't work and a nice leak in the roof where they removed the lightbar and didn't seal the holes. So be aware of this stuff.
mine is a 87 and it has the skid plates and the d44 is it limited slip?
mine is a laredo

they closed up the holes on the outside panels from the antennas. im sure wireing is hell on it. the center consel has holes from the computer. but over all looks almost new. new tow hooks up front, seats look amazing, few surface rust spots, interior plastic may need a few pieces because of where the interior lights were... but this will be my project jeep, so im not worried about the bumpers, wheels, tires, or suspension.
but 2300$ for a 2001 4x4 sport with 130,000 miles... not bad at all

No it was a base model XJ. Power nothing, vinyl seats, rubber matting instead of carpet. The D44 was 3.55 and open. It is now in my 91 Sport with 4.56 gears and an Aussie Locker.
